Oxford Club Communiqué |
Founded in 1984, the Oxford Club launched its newsletter,
the Oxford Club Communiqué, in 1987.
The publication is a newsletter powerhouse with a fair sized budget judging from their promotional activities. It boasts an advisory panel that includes such luminaries as the Aden sisters, Mark Skousen, Steve Sjuggerud and Dr. Van K. Tharp. Their primary writers, however, are Louis Bass and Alexander Green, both knowledgeable and excellent writers. Each issue features a lead article from Green or Bass followed by a guest article, often from a member of their advisory board. The newsletter follows five portfolios, the main one being the Oxford Trading Portfolio. It features a 35-40 stocks picked using a value investing approach and held with a 25% trailing stop. Their other portfolios include an Income Portfolio, an All Star Portfolio, an Anti-Terror Portfolio and a Gone Fishin' Portfolio. Most of the Trading Portfolio is US stocks with an occasional foreign pick that trades in the US. The other portfolios include index and income mutual funds. The newsletter was rated among the top ten for 2006 by Hulbert Financial Digest. An adjunct to the Oxford Club is Investment U, headed by Mark Skousen. It offers a free newsletter. I subscribed to the Oxford Club for a year and found it an interesting and informative read and well recommended. Check out their website for an introductory offer. |
